Lesson 8: Must-Watch Vegan Documentaries and Mind-Blowing Podcasts

A 2019 global survey asked roughly 12,000 participants from 97 countries what motivated them to adopt a plant-based lifestyle. The leading reason for seriously considering going vegan was watching a feature-length documentary.

That’s why we wanted to share 8 must-watch vegan documentaries and podcasts which will open your mind and heart to living a plant-based, cruelty-free lifestyle.

1. What The Health

Following the success of “Cowspiracy,” filmmakers Anderson and Kuhn decided to make another documentary. With “What the Health”, they’re shining a spotlight on official health and nutrition organisations and their reluctance to point out the negative health impacts of eating animal products, while further exploring the health benefits of a plant-based diet.

2. Cowspiracy

According to the Food and Agriculture Organization, the livestock industry contributes 14.5 per cent of all human greenhouse gas emissions. Keegan Kuhn and Kip Andersen (the duo that’s also behind What the Health), draw attention to the link between factory farming and ecological crises such as climate change, ocean dead zones, and water shortages.

3. Seaspiracy

The ocean is home to up to 80% of all life on Earth, produces 50-80% of the oxygen on Earth and absorbs four times the amount of CO2 as the Amazon Rainforest. Seaspiracy sheds light on the fact that industrial fishing is the most destructive industry in our ocean. 300,000 dolphins, whales and porpoises are killed in fishing nets every year, along with 30,000 sharks per hour! Plus, 46% of the great pacific garbage patch consists of fishing nets. And currently, less than 1% of the world’s oceans are protected from this industry.

Colin Campbell explores the possibility that people changing their diets from animal-based to plant-based can help eliminate or control diseases like cancer and diabetes.
